MS Office will support ODF, but not OOXML

In a Slashdot article, it seems that Microsoft will upgrade Office 2007 to support ODF 1.1, but won't be supporting the OOXML standard which Microsoft itself bullied ISO into approving as an ISO standard - at least not in the near future.
Wouldn't it be ironic if the first product to support the OOXML standard is, in fact, OpenOffice.org?
