Malta Linux User Group

What do Google, Microsoft, Linux, US Navy and the local company MARSEC-XL have in common? The answer will be provided at the Isle of Open Source 2011 (IOOS2011) conference being held this week on 20 and 21 October at Villa Bighi in Kalkara.

For the first time, Google, Microsoft, Linux and the US Navy will meet in Malta at the IOOS2011 groundbreaking conference organised by MARSEC-XL, the local Marine Software Engineering Cluster of Excellence.

Natty Narwhal arrived with lots of fanfare about its new "Unity" interface. I already had some misgivings about it before it was released. What it was promising seemed to be several steps backwards, and that's exactly what it was.

Hi all,I have been using Ubuntu linux for the past 2 months and abandoned Windows altogether. I have been in computing since the beginning of personal computing (my first computer was the Atom). All I can say about is that I am very happy with it although sometimes it is spartan for the normal user, I managed to put all my business processes on the Open office and other special software e.g. Serna XML editor, Gantt project.

The Department of Physics at the University of Malta will be organising a seminar titled 'High Performance Computing Seminar at the University of Malta' as part of the University Open Week (http://www.um.edu.mt/discoveruniversity). This will be held at the University Campus on the 14th of March in the Science Lecture Theatre (SLT).
